A Virgin Blog

Well, I finally bit the bullet and joined the blogosphere. As this is my first ever post I thought I would try to explain why I am drawn to start blogging. I have been reading a lot of stuff on other blogs I regularly check like patroclus, heather, molly bloom etc about the media's recent hostile reaction to bloggers which has come to light of late. All of this has set me thinking. I am drawn to read blogs by an absence in 'reality' of true human to human connection. We are surrounded by spin, lies and manipulation. This creates an atmosphere of fear and alienation which prevents us from making true connections face to face. I have recently discovered that a true community exists with humour, intelligence, high and low culture all over cyberspace and I am enjoying being part of it. I feel more human when chatting on a forum or posting on a blog than I do in countless inane interactions in the real world. Perhaps the fault is mine but it seems I'm not the only one.

Please excuse my feeble attempts to create links post photos etc as I am new to this and I'm trying to pick it up as I go along.

Hello, may I be the first to welcome you to the wonderful world of blogging - I've been doing it since 2002 and still manage to talk complete bollocks most of the time. I'll be happy to add you. I have a growing list of people I've promised to add, so maybe now I'll actually get down to it. Have fun!

Thanks for posting Terri as soon as I work out how to put links on I'll link to your site.

Hello,

you've been leaving interesting comments for a while so I'm very glad you've joined us.

Blogging's great, honest. It does take over your life, but in a *good* way...

One advantage of blogging is that it's much cheaper than drugs (although, being a medic, you get your Class As for free).

realdoc said...

Unfortunately TF class A drugs are much less easy to obtain post-Shipman, even for medics. (Not that I ever tried in case the GMC are reading this.)

As a consumer, rather than a producer, I just wanted to say how pleased I am that I've got another address to add to my ever growing list of blogs. Reading the things is taking half of my life so I don't know how any of you find the time to actually write them as well... But I'm pleased you do!

Congratulations on your entry to cyber space. As a complete technophobe I am just discovering the wonderful world of blogs and bloggers but will add you to that thing on my computer which means I don't have to go through google every time. I fear it may be sometime before I will be able to add pictures and graphics and other clever stuff.

I am impressed that Mr Realdoc manages whole sentences before work in the morning - I'm doing well if Mr T'sME burps in my general direction. By the way have you any views on ELO's "It's a Living Thing" recent topping of the Q magazine guilty pleasures List?

Burping in Mrs T'sME sounds like a true guilty pleasure

realdoc said...

ELO eh! Well Mr. Blue Sky has always been a guilty pleasure of mine and along with Jeff Lynne being on the fantastic new Tom Petty album and the band's recent showcasing in Dr. Who I think we are in for a bit of a revival.

ps I don't have the bloody ear any more so give it up why dontcha.

Welcome. You have put into words how I feel about blogs but could not quite put my finger on. one is free to interact with thought rather than off-the-cuff remarks as in physical interaction. In a physical setting one is expected to respond more or less immediately to a comment or action of another. There is little time for thought before the subject is changed or the setting breaks up. Plus you can post pictures!
