Slow ginger death

I hope the rest of you are enjoying The Devil's Whore , and not simply because of John Simm's scar, which I find curiously mesmerising, but also the amazing pallor of Angela Riseborough takes me back to my youth , before tanning salons, when everyone in Northern Ireland looked like this......

Redheads are being bred out of existence now with the dual Darwinist pressures of foreign holidays blistering their pasty carcasses and the fact that the UV lights in nightclubs make freckles go green, thus rendering their owners unshaggable.

My own titian tresses have not been passed on to my offspring (the first question after their birth was not 'Has she got the requisite number of limbs?' but 'She isn't ginger is she?') thanks to me making the unusual lifestyle choice of marrying a semi-Belgian. Perhaps in future gingers will be prized for their rarity value but I can't see it myself.

Also,I thought I was just a bit lazy and busy to be prolific at this blogging lark but it turns out I'm at the vanguard of an exciting new movement see here.

Hmmm, we have the reverse situation chez Klein - turns out Brian and I are both carriers of the 'ginger gene' and have produced one redhead and one fraise-blonde. I've never understood why red hair is viewed so negatively - the way some people said: 'Oh...ANOTHER redhead' when Amber was born was astonishing.

I found Riseborough more sexy as Thatcher - I've left Betty to watch the rest of the series.

I value quality over quantity. It might not show in my posts, but I do.

For once I agree with Geoff, I could only take 10 minutes of the nonsense.

Yet again I am diametrically opposed to Geoff's position. It is impossible, using the rules of English syntax, to combine Thatcher and sexy in the same sentence.

I come from a long line of ugly ginger people, most of the males lose the majority of their hair early on, most have a speech impediment and are tone deaf. It beats me how I turned out so bleeding gorgeous.

I am not ginge but my son is which means I am a carrier - as my non-ginge other half must be I believe to produce a ginge. Anyway - I have noticed that since he started school lots of teachers and other kids have assumed he is naughty because he has red hair and it really pisses me off! He is quite 'lively' but I do remember havign a conversation with a teacher when he was 4/5 telling her that she was 'creating' the naughtly boy in him by constantly talking to him as if he had done something mischievous. Why is it?

I am ginger and I wear sandals (with socks) and I have reproduced successfully. Either there is less cultural bigotry round my way or the discos did not have UV lights.

As I am unable to produce quality, I rely on quantity. I am not ginger.

There are a lot of traits attributed to those of us with red hair: feistiness (a male code for shrewishness), temper and apparently nymphomania (which may make up for the fluorescent freckles). I think anti-gingerism seems to be the last allowable predjudice.

Just curious. Is cack handedness a trait that goes with gingeriness? 'Tis with me.

Old Ma Realdoc (mother of myself and Realdoc) used to insist that we were 'auburn' not ginger. Our aunt used to insist that her youngest progeny (even more ginger than us) was 'titian'. I recently read that Prince Harry was annoyed to be called ginger as his mother used to tell him he had auburn hair. I see a pattern developing amongst mothers of gingers here and am interested other than strawberry blonde, auburn or titian what other euphemistic descriptions exist to hide the shame of the ginger child.

Sometimes I refer to my child as 'the one over there with orange hair'.

Gingeriness poll over at Clodhoppers now. Women Only.

I think I'm a ginge carrier. Call me Typhoid Mary.

But aren't Belgians more endangered than coppernobs?

I like red hair, me.

Lucky you, Realdoc.

This morning I saw a young man who appeared to have dyed his hair ginger. It looked quite bizarre.

a Belgian? Good Lord.
I was auburn (yes me ma told me) but with a lot of chemicals I'm more strawberry blonde (or brassy) - hasn't done anything to improve my temper though. No freckles although one daughter has but not the one with auburn hair.
