Birthday, pah!

I am a year older today than I was yesterday, which in my book is nothing to celebrate. I share mon anniversaire with the following people and events.

1953 First issue of Hugh Heffner's Playboy magazine: the centre-page spread featured American actress Marilyn Monroe in the nude.

World Aids Day

Rosa Parks was arrested for challanging race laws in Montgomery, Alabama

1969 - Vietnam War: The first draft lottery in the United States is held since World War II

The Sex Pistols shocked the world by saying four-letter words on a telly programme.

Richard Pryor, Woody Allen and Bette Midler were born.

Anyway, being a miserable, mopey cow I have had the Birthday I deserve. This cake sort of sums it up....

I shall cheer up tomorrow as it will no longer be my birthday and littlest realdoc is coming back tonight. (Just cross your fingers that it's not too windy for the ferry crossing or she may come back covered in puke.)

Well, I said Happy Birthday this morning, so I'm not saying it again.

Yes, yes, yes, happy birthday, I suppose.
Please do not hold yourself responsible for those other events. I am sure it is just coincidence.

I couldn't find a 'Kiss My Arse' cake in the Nigel Slater or Nigella books. Now I need look no further. What's the trick for flesh coloured icing?
Happy Birthday.

The cake is hilarious. I personally vote yes on re-embracing one's birthday, not as a celebration of aging but as a reason to be self-indulgent for 24 hours. But your mileage may vary...

Still, I celebrate the fact that you were born, as I like you and enjoy your blog and your comments on other blogs. So, neener neener. Said in my most grown-up tones.

BTW I actually share my birthday with Hugh Hefner. And with Paulina Porizkova, who looks MUCH better than I do at my age. Ah well.

It's nearly over, be happy about Collingwood he's 98! And it could be worse you might not have made it to this birthday! Hope your litle one returned safely and, oh yes, HAPPY BIRTHDAY x

Two of my closest friends share your birthday - so I tend to think that all the best folks are born on 1st December, an auspicious date! Many happy returns. Cake is hilarious, am sure it tasted good too!

If I was clever I would post an obscure youtube clip of The Clash in which an adolescent (possibly mullet-haired) realdoc could be spotted pogo-ing in intense fashion. Alas I am not really clever instead I will for your birthday sing 'Whiteman in Hammersmith Palais'.

Your birthday present is that you don't have to hear it.

Hope your day was brill and mum didn't buy you a pashmina. Catch up soon.

p.s. I thought the cake was boobs with one nipple bitten off. What would freud say!

Just made it in time to say Happy Birthday realdoc. And may the littler realdoc be safely snuggled up in your bed right now.

I bet you get your birthday present when Collingwood score his double century !!

Thank you all for your good wishes. I'm back on an even keel as...
the little one is back safe and sound

Mr realdoc is most pleased about the cricket (go go Collingwood!!)

I was given 'Dummies guide to podcasting' for my birthday and who knows where that will lead.

Congratulations for yesterday (um, I was at Asda last night and missed reading the post).

You share the same birthday as my mother-in-law, so I send my commiserations as well.

Happy birthday for yesterday from another atypical Sagittarian.

The only typical Sagittarian I know is Jim Davidson who shares my bloody birthday.

Happy B-day, hon. Being a year older may not be ideal, but it's a fair sight better than the alternative! xxx

Very late indeed. Many belated happy returns. Was it really 30 years ago, the Bill Grundy thing?

A belated Happy B'day. I'm afraid I was offline when it happened.

(Llewtrah - the darn thing wants me to have a Google a/c rather than a Blogger a/c)

happy birthday, belatedly.

I'm glad someone explained what that cake was because I was thinking of an awful mix of bad surgery and dubious practices.
