If you read GSE's very helpful halp site you will know that a recent visit to the vet has revealed that our cat is clinically obese. This has resulted from him hassling the family for titbits every time the fridge is opened. So we have decided to be firm...no more snacking.
This policy has now been in force for only two days, but Courtney (after Courtney Walsh, the other one's called Curtley after Curtley Ambrose) is mounting a sustained campaign of passive resistance.....
sitting in my handbag when I want to go out
Standing on the paper when I'm trying to do the crossword
rolling in the coalhole
or just plain ignoring us

feed the damn cat - at least he'll die happy - if you continue starving him he will gain revenge by posting the innards of rats and mice in your handbag and peeing on the sofa - think I'm joking? Been there, done that, washed the friggin sofa!
Nice to see you back! How did the kitchen refurb go?
Just realised your back because Mr RD is watching the cricket isn't he??!
Did you say sitting in the handbag? It could be worse.
Aaaah - he's a lovely cat and looks like he is largely built anyway - a little of what he fancies now and again will be all right. I can't believe vets are now turning into body fascists too.
Aww. So cute. Nice handbag too.
Another sad middle aged woman
I'm very impressed with your cats' names. Themes are good.
awww, he looks very furry and squooshable. i want a cat.
oh yes, i know this cattitude well. my Miss Planetoid used to sulk when I cut her off the potato chips. it did start her catching flies, though.
Your pud and my Flossie look like negative versions of each other. Flossie is a fat cat too, at 10lbs, but I think the neighbours are feeding her because no matter how much I reduce her rations she's not getting any slimmer.
just for a moment i thought you'd written 'no more smacking'. i'm so relieved. is he fat all year round or is he prone to seasonal fluctuations? cos one of our cats gets fat in winter and thin in summer. (i should be doing this on halp really, shouldn't i?)
At least you got ignored! My punishment for leaving Thenie with only an automatic feeder over the weekend was to be patted, nibbled, poked and generally kept awake all last night. It's all reight for her, she can spend all day kipping while I'm at work.
Has anyone got a cat who is underweight? Cat anorexia doesn't appear to be a pressing social problem
My cat was underweight until she had one of her thyrouid glands removed. Anorexia in cats is usually due to physical illness or sever stress. Cat insomnia, however, that is almost unknown (cat induced human insomnia is pretty common though)
Heh realdoc, I resemble that remark (sad middle-aged woman who posts pictures of her cat on her blog)!
Harrumph.
But anyway, Laila is underweight. She has been hyperthyroid (treated, but still keeping her on the slim side) for a while. She recently got treated for it, but she's still on the feel-the-ribs side. However, she's very hairy so it's hard to tell until you hug her.
Don't worry about Sad Middle-aged Woman... I'm worse, a sad Middle-aged man who posts pictures of other people's cats on his blog. (But they do spend an awful lot of time with us!)
have you tried feeding it diet pills?
Hey your cat looks like a fat look-a-like of Patti (Smith), our cat. Is it very moody? - every black and white cat I've known has been, and I'm wondering if it is a trait of the type...
Ignore me this is too sad.
Middle-aged? I wish! I'm way past middle age, unless I live to be 106 years old. I love that chubby little cat of yours!
